Scott Garell

Scott Garell is a former Consumer Tech CEO (Ask Jeeves, Dictionary.com, IAC Applications, and Goodshop) who in his second career has become an Executive Coach for startup and nonprofit leaders. In his business career as a CEO and Executive, Scott scaled Tech companies of all shapes and sizes: from small (0 to $3M at Ticketmaster-CitySearch), to medium ($5 to $25M at Goodshop) to large ($30M to $125M at IAC Applications). Scott also ran a ~$400M organization with 400+ people while running Ask Jeeves for Barry Diller’s IAC Interactive (NASDAQ: IACI). In his coaching career, Scott has worked with a variety of startups, accelerators for people of color and women, social enterprises, nonprofits and foundations. Scott’s work focuses on both Leadership Coaching and Business Advising at the growth/scaling stage when organizations raise new capital and/or hit new milestones. His experience also includes working with several 1st time CEOs. Scott has made a variety of Angel investments in the consumer tech space over the years and has attended presentations from Harvard Business School Angels of Northern California. Scott has an MBA from Harvard and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley. He lives in Orinda, CA and is a father of 3 girls in their 20’s. In his spare time, Scott enjoys travel, cooking, photography, sports (especially Cal Football and the Golden State Warriors) and hiking.
