After five action packed years as a corporate attorney with Venture Law Group and Orrick (first deal was literally the Pets.com IPO), John Dugan stepped into his favorite client Kiva Systems (robotic supply chain automation) as employee #22. Serving as VP Business Operations, John built and led the finance, HR, IS and legal teams as revenue grew from zero to well over $100m with 55% gross margins and positive cash flow. Kiva’s unique mix of powerful software driving thousands of robots completely automating dozens of national distribution centers fired John’s passion for disruptive technology and systems based companies. Kiva Systems was acquired by Amazon in 2012 returning 24x money-on- money to stockholders. John is now sharing his experience as an advisor and investor in several early stage technology companies and pursuing his interest in real estate investment as a principal at Bulldog Capital. Earlier in his career, John served as a Captain in the U.S. Army and worked as an Operations Manager at Stryker Endoscopy, a medical device company. John is also a lucky husband and proud father of three. When not working he enjoys landscape photography, coaching youth football, cycling and the occasional game of poker. John holds a B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a J.D. from Stanford Law School.
