Band members are generally former or current high tech executives interested in investing their time and money into startups. Eight members serve for rotating twelve-month terms on the Member Selection Committee.

Mike Bateman has 46 years of experience at high technology companies. After a 20 year career at Tandem Computers, he has been working with numerous start-up companies, most often serving as Chairman or a board member. At Tandem Computers, he served as Vice President of Corporate Development, Vice President of Third-Party Marketing and Vice President & General Manager of the Central Division. Prior to Tandem, Mike was Chairman and President of International Data Sciences Corporation, Manager at Arthur Andersen & Co., Sales Manager at ADL Systems, a subsidiary of Arthur D. Little and Sales Representative at Honeywell EDP. He is a board member emeritus of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, a member of the Band of Angels, and a Horizon Ventures and Selby Venture Partners Limited Partner.
